ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The ‘Child Protection Policy’ languishing in different departments for approval would wait for the decision of provinces due to devolution of power under 18th Amendment.
Official sources told APP here on Jan 30, that first draft of ‘Child Protection Policy’ was submitted to the Cabinet Division in August 2009 and its revised draft submitted in July 2010 by the National Commission for Child Welfare and Development (NCCWD).
APP has learnt that the first draft of the child protection policy was submitted to the Cabinet Division in August 2009 with the consultation of all stakeholders, including ministries of Population Welfare, Human Rights, Law and Justice, Labour, Overseas Pakistani and Religious Affairs and representatives of all the provinces, FATA and FANA etc.
The Cabinet Division referred the draft back to NCCWD, an attached department of Ministry of Social Welfare, with the directive for more consultations, taking all coalition partners on-board.
